An interview with Lydia - Founder of Nomii
"When my son was born I asked other parents what they were using to keep memories organised. Almost everyone said said they had multiple apps and kept memories scattered. Most parents said they felt "overwhelmed" by the task. That's how I learned about the problem.
I began talking to more parents on purpose to learn about these issues. I heard so many sad stories about lost data and frustration from parents who want to record more stories but do not an easy way to keep their written memories together with photos and videos.
This was very sad for me and I realised that many precious memories are being lost because no tools exist.

​So I learned how to design and built a (very bad) prototype. I sought feeback then iterated and repeated this process so many times. Thn, in 2023, a friend with software engineering skills joined our project and we called it Nomii (as in "know me").
Building an app from scratch is challenging to say the least but my kids continue to motivate me and help kep me focused. ​​​

The next problem we're tackling is to develop a Legacy Access System for Nomii users, to ensure their memory collections are able to be passed down securely for generations.

When will the app be ready?
We're hopeful for 2026 but as this is our first app there are new challenges to overcome and we're prioritising quality. To be kept in the loop, please follow our facebook page or join the waitlist to stay updated.
Will my memories be safe?
Security is paramount for Nomii. We are building a reliable, future proof and secure product that parents feel safe using (including our founders who will trust Nomii with their own memory collections).

Privacy First principles - this means no one sees your memories unless they are directly shared by you.

End to end data encryption - this means you are safeguarded against unauthorized access during both memory creation and storage.

Will I be able to I print photobooks?
Not yet but we'd like to build this feature into Nomii later. We're building a Memory Legacy Access systems for passing on everything: videos, recordings and stories to kids in one collection, at a time of your own choosing.
Here's how:
1. More Options for Memory Legacy
Whether through a simple file export, a printed MyStory book, a Memory Legacy Box or a Memory Legacy Site (we're still exploring these options), we are working on building more options into our Legacy Access System so that parents can take their memories offline, have forever access, and pass them down securely for generations.
2. Powerful Gifting Moment
Imagine passing down a perfectly secure, digital Memory Collection filled with an entire childhood — birthdays, milestones, messages from grandparents, drawings from school, silly quotes — all preserved in a beautiful, scrollable, searchable format. That's where Nomii's Legacy Access Sytem is headed.
4. Privacy & Security on Your Terms
By personlising options for creating a Memory Legacy, parents will benefit from being able to choose when they are ready to share a Memory Collection with children as well as choose your own sharing options.
Will I be able to share my memories with family?
Yes. Account holders can invite Followers or invite more people to share the account with them by giving them a user profile. Here's how it works:
1) Send invitations to loved ones. Once they accept and download the app, they will be able to view that child's memories
2) User profiles: Account holders can add up to 6 users (one extra is part of the Nomii Basic features, after that you can upgrade to premium to get 4 more users). These users can add memories and help complete the monthly prompts.
